Francette Chaperon Rouge is a limited edition play doll made by the traditional French doll making company, Petitcollin. Petitcollin still use old fashioned methods for making dolls and you can see slight joins on Francette's limbs and torso where they have been joined together. She also feels lighter in weight than modern day vinyl dolls.
Francette originates from 1958 from the French Women's magazine Modes & Travaux. Francette Chaperon Rouge has been designed by Nathalie Lete, a Parisian artist who is inspired by many things including vintage toys and folk art.
Francette has blue inset eyes and long brown hair with a fringe, which she wears in plaits tied with white ribbon. She wears a short sleeved white shirt with a peter pan style collar and a red fleece pinafore over the top. The dress is trimmed with ivory ric-rac braid around the neck and hem and has a cream satin bow on the front. Francette's hooded cape is also trimmed with ric rac braid and ties at the neck with a red ribbon. On her feet Francette wears red slip on shoes with a little bow on the front of each.
Francette would make a lovely gift for a fairy tale loving little girl.
Made in France.
Gorgeous doll. Arrived quickly and in perfect condition, now I just have to wait for my daughters birthday. I know she will be thrilled.
The body of this doll can be cleaned using a damp cloth with a little mild detergent if required. The body should not be immersed in water as this will rot the elastic holding the limbs onto the body.
The hair can be carefully washed using a mild shampoo taking care not to create tangles.
The dolls clothes can be hand washed using a mild detergent in warm water. Do not tumble dry but dry flat, smoothing out creases whilst damp. Iron using a cool iron if needed.
