My daughter really enjoyed this book which brought Matilda's story alive. It is pretty brutal in parts - although as my 11-year-old said, "Well, that's history"! She said it was well-written and she liked the diary format, and the fact that the historical dolls are all going to descend from one another. we would recommend the book to age 9+ and I think it would be a great extension read for KS2 Tudor history.
