Binky's Big Adventure is a delightful children's book by Moira Blackwell and Liz Nankivell. Binky is a little teddy bear dressed in a green waistcoat and knotted spotted neck scarf. His adventure is based in and around Alresford in Hampshire and I met Liz at a friend's wedding last summer in nearby Bighton and we got chatting about our businesses. And that was the first time I saw this charming little hard backed book.
What makes this book so lovely is that the story is in rhyme and is illustrated using photographs of Binky. Binky sets off on a day out with Katy and her Mummy but Binky ends up getting lost and having adventures all on his own. For example.....
'Up on the bridge Binky lay on his tummy. He wriggled his stick and he looked very funny. "A fish! Look a fish!" he shouted with glee. He tried to move forward and get on one knee. But the stick had got stuck. It twisted and smashed. Binky fell in the water with a very loud splash.'
