Washing Instructions

Rahel is one of the Hearts for Hearts Girls, a popular range of dolls from the US that have been created to encourage girls to give to others, thereby changing the world one heart at a time.

Rahel is from Ethiopia and wears traditional dress from Africa. She is 36cm tall with dark skin, brown fixed eyes and long painted lashes. She has healthy blushing cheeks and a natural coloured full mouth. Her afro hair is incredibly soft and quite long, but a little shorter around her face.

Rahel is wearing a yellow ochre jersey body suit with short sleeves and a red sarong which fastens with velcro beneath the tie. The skirt has lots of embroidery around the hem and is beautiful and on her feet she wears sandals. All the girls come with jewellery and Rahal wears strings of beads around her neck which are actually moulded plastic that looks like beads. She also wears some silver earrings and different bracelets on each wrist. On her left she wears a selection of blue bracelets and on her right she wears elasticated red and purple bracelets.

Rahel arrives in a colourful box with a large close up of her face on the front. The front cover is a flap which opens up to reveal the doll inside. She comes with a comb and a child size bracelet with two hearts, and also comes with a book giving details about her life. When she is removed from the box there is a map printed inside which shows where she lives.

Rahel lives in a big mud house with a thatch roof in Ethiopia and the family own lots of cows. Unfortunately where she lives is prone to drought so many people don't have enough food and many are infected with malaria too. One day a government worked came to the village and told her mother that they were looking for people to train to become community health workers, and Rahel's mother decided to join. She went away for training and learned how to check for Malaria and general health. People used to have to walk a long way for help but now they can visit Rahel's mother, and Rahel dreams of becoming a doctor.

Lovely well made doll that child was very happy with! She enjoyed info on her life and culture.

The body of this doll can be cleaned using a damp cloth with a little mild detergent if required. The body should not be immersed in water as this will rot the elastic holding the limbs onto the body.

The hair can be carefully washed using a mild shampoo taking care not to create tangles.

The dolls clothes can be hand washed using a mild detergent in warm water. Do not tumble dry but dry flat, smoothing out creases whilst damp. Iron using a cool iron if needed.
